The immune system protects your body from infections and various diseases. Immunity is the defense mechanism a human body follows to fight off the germs and infections. I have been told that having good immune system benefits as defense mechanism of our body and is sufficient enough to fight against common diseases. We all need to take care of our health and hygiene, but the section of the population that need special care and attention is women and children. The initial years of life are very crucial for the child to develop a healthy immune system as a child’s growth takes place rapidly during this period and his/her body learns to fight with different infections and diseases. Breast milk can enhance the brainpower of the baby as well as protects the baby from several other diseases.

Diet Rich In Fruits And Vegetables:  Carotenoids, which are immunity-boosting phytonutrients, are present in oranges, strawberries, green beans and carrots. Phytonutrients increase the production of infection-fighting white blood cells. Give at least five serving of fruits and vegetables in a day to your child.

Physical Activity: Children should be involved in some kind of physical activity every day either playing outdoor, running, dancing etc. as it will help them to increase the number of natural killer cells in the body. Do not just give orders to your children to play instead of be a role model for them. Play with your children in order to encourage them to be active and enthusiastic in life.

Protect The Children From Unhygienic Conditions: If you prevent your child from going to unclean places, it will help in reducing stress on the immune system of your child. Develop good hygiene habits in your child by telling the child to wash his/her hands before and after eating food, after coming from outside, brushing the teeth in the morning as well as night etc.

There are various ways for elderly people to strengthen their immunity level.

Maintain A Healthy Weight: Older adults need to have an appropriate weight as overweight and obesity in this age can worsen the condition of their immune system. It is not easy for an old aged person to lose weight, unlike the young people who have options like the gym to lose weight. Older adults have a restricted pattern of exercise and can not perform rigorous exercises. They should indulge themselves in yoga and other activities to keep themselves active and fit.

Low Level Of Stress:  Chronic stress can decrease the effectiveness of the immune system and makes a person susceptible to viruses and illness.

Healthy Diet: Elderly people should eat a nutrient-rich diet that can boost their immune system so that it can fight with infections. Elderly people should reduce the intake of sugar and processed foods and should consume a diet rich in fruits and vegetables, which consists of essential vitamins and anti-oxidants.
